Platon glass tube anaesthetic gas flowmeters are manufactured for medical equipment suppliers worldwide, with actual scales and markings tailored to individual equipment requirements.
Tubes and floats are supplied as a calibrated set, normally without a frame. These are then incorporated into the manufacture of an anaesthetics trolley or other equipment.

Platon Flow Alarms For Glass VA
PLATON FLOSCAN INFRA-RED FLOW ALARM SYSTEMS
Platon Floscan sensors use an infra-red beam across the glass flowtube of a Variable Area (VA) flowmeter. Passage of the float between the sensor arms is detected, and logic within the electronics determines whether the float is above or below the sensor position. Electronics inside the sensor module gives an open collector transistor output, suitable for external logic circuits.
Suitable for all gas flows, and liquid flows where the float is visible, the sensor is clipped to the back of the flowmeter frame, typically on a Platon NG/NGX Series (normal 100mm scale) or LG/LGX series (miniature 30mm scale) VA meter.
Movement up and down the frame allows the sensor to provide a flow alarm at any point on the tube scale, as required. The sensor can also be supplied on Platon GU or SGUV style flowmeters.
The optional mains interface and relay module is used to provide the DC power needed to drive the sensor electronics, plus a SPCO 8 Amp mains relay output. This relay acts as a slave to the transistor output from the sensor module. Each Floscan relay module has two output relays, and can be used to monitor two separate alarm sensors.

ACCURATE MEASUREMENT
Flow up the tapered tube lifts the float to an equilibrium position. Flow rate is then measured against the flat top edge of the float.
Replacement Platon Glass Tube and Float
The Platon range of Glass Tube Flowmeters typically uses the 100mm scale length borosilicate glass tube and a float. Based on the well known variable area (VA) principle of low measurement, these flowmeters provide clear, simple and reliable operation.
Platon Glass Tubes from RM&C are individually scaled and calibrated according to customer's requirements. Custom scales are produced using our "Reynolds Curve" prediction software, which uses air or water calibration data corrected for the effects of temperature and pressure on the density and viscosity of the working fluid.
Fluid flowing vertically upwards through the tapered glass tube causes the float to rise to an equilibrium position. Flow rate is measured by reading the top edge of the float against the scaled tube.
UKAS and Traceable Calibration
Roxspur Measurement & Control Ltd is an ISO 9001:2008 company, we offer UKAS and traceable calibration under BS/EN ISO17025 accredited procedures. Our certificate generation systems are purposely geared to meet the strict and specific requirement of the Aerospace industry.
Calibration
Based at our factory in Sheffield our accredited laboratories are available to provide either on-site or in-house calibration to either UKAS or national standards. We cover Temperature (up to 2,200ºC), Pressure (up to 1,200 bar), Flow (up to 2,500 L/min) and Electrical parameters and provide certification using the latest technology.
Our team of experienced on-site engineers hold accreditation for the on-site calibration of equipment including autoclaves, furnaces, thermocouples and probes, scales and balances, ovens and chambers, indicators and controllers, pressure and electrical. We cover the full spectrum of industry sectors. All calibration standards used meet the requirements of Table 3 of AMS 2750D, whether in the laboratory or on site, ensuring full compliance with the specification. We supply thermocouples calibrated and certified to meet the requirements of Table 1 of AMS 2750D appropriate to customer specified usage.
