PLATON METAL TUBE PURGE FLOWMETER – TYPES API, APT, APV
Armoured Purgemeters are direct reading flowmeters for liquid or gas measurement on small lines. Using a stainless steel tapered tube to create a variable area flowmeter, the magnetically coupled pointer shows flowrate on an external scale.
Armoured purgemeters are chosen where the higher integrity offered by a metal flow tube is important, or where conventional glass flow tubes are not allowed in the process. Ideal for flow monitoring in purging, mixing or sampling systems, the meters are available with inline (API) or rear facing (APT) screwed connections.
For fine flow rate adjustment, the APV model has an integral multi-turn needle valve. Scales are individually produced to show the actual fluid flow for the process fluids and conditions relevant.
The units are suitable for flush mounting in a control panel, using a simple mounting kit.

Platon GMT Screwed Metal Tube VA Flowmeter
PLATON GMTB & S SERIES
Part of the Platon GMT Variable Area flowmeter family, models GMTB and GMTS are brass or Stainless Steel tube flowmeters with female screwed connections. With 1/2”, 1” and 2” BSP/NPT threaded fittings standard, the meters are ideal for arduous industrial service as an alternative to large glass tube flowmeters. They have particular advantages for gas or liquid flow measurement at high pressures and temperatures, where the fluids are opaque or dark coloured or to provide higher operational security for dangerous or toxic materials.
The VA meter principle used in the Platon GMT flowmeter measures the position of a float in a precision-machined tapered tube. The float rises with the flow up the taper until the upthrust from the flow balances with the weight of the float. A magnet, electron beam welded into the float casing, drives the external meter indication over a 100mm scale typically displaying a 10:1 flow range.
Options available on the GMTB/GMTS include GMTA) flow alarm outputs for high or low adjustable set points and electronic 4-20mA flow transmitter (GMTX) outputs. All of these are available with CENELEC intrinsically safe approval. For low-pressure Natural gas flow measurement, models are available with minimal line pressure loss. Special versions are available for Oxygen service. All units are available calibrated for the specific line conditions or fluid involved.
FEATURES
Platon MN Automatic Flow Controller
FLOSTATS from Roxspur Measurement & Control are automatic flow control devices for liquids or gases. Once adjusted to the required value, flow is maintained accurately at this rate independent of pressure fluctuations in the supply or varying backpressures downstream of the meter. No electrical power or external flow measurement input is required – the Flostat control system uses the line pressure available.
FLOSTATS are ideal for blending or dosing applications to maintain the required delivery of valuable gases or liquids, despite process line pressure changes. Similarly, FLOSTATS are ideal for use on gas sampling, purging or inert gas blanketing systems to maintain flow rate independent of back pressure. Bubbler type liquid level measurement systems benefit from improved accuracy and lower gas usage when fitted with a FLOSTAT. To assist in setting the correct flow rate, the Flostat type MN is frequently installed in line with a Platon type GU, NGI, LGI, NGIX, or LGIX variable area flowmeter.
FEATURES
Platon Vampire - Electronic Indicator
PLATON TYPE GMTX
The GMTX electronic indicator with microprocessor enhanced performance and LCD panel display of flow rate and total, designed for use with a metal tube variable area flowmeter for liquid, gas or steam measurement.
Suitable for use with body options, the VAMPIRE (Variable Area Micro Processor Indicator Readout Electronics) has a totally solid state measurement system, eliminating mechanical hysteresis errors. Microprocessor interpolation between flow data points, stored in factory calibrated look-up tables, gives an improvement to ±1% accuracy for this technique.
The loop powered 4-20mA transmitter is certified intrinsically safe to CENELEC standards, for use in a potentially hazardous area. Both loop powered and AC mains powered units have separate high and low flow alarm outputs.
