Products > Flow > Flow Controllers > Flostat Adjustable Flow Regulators
Flostats maintain liquid or gas flow at a preselected rate despite line pressure fluctuations. No power or external flow input is needed. Using an internal orifice to measure flow, the differential pressure produced drives an integral control valve.
Flostat control is based on flow measurement using an internal orifice. This means that the Flostat requires a small pressure drop in the line: the minimum value is quoted in the tabulation. Two types of Flostat are available for each model, depending on whether the orifice is positioned on the inlet or outlet of the Flostat.
Liquids: Type A units are used for all applications, whether upstream or downstream pressures are subject to fluctuations.
Gases: Type A units are used when the supply or upstream pressure is relatively constant, and the major pressure variation is on the downstream side of the unit.
Type B units are used when the supply pressure changes are the major problem (e.g. distribution line) but downstream or discharge pressure is relatively constant (e.g. atmospheric).
