Floscan flow alarms use an infra-red beam across the glass flow tube of a VA meter. Passage of the float between the sensor arms is detected and logic within the electronics determines whether the float is above or below the sensor position. Clipped to the rear of the frame, the sensor can be adjusted up and down to the required position. The sensor is 12V DC powered with a transistor switch output to drive external logic circuits. A mains operated power unit and slave relay can be used to drive either one or two Floscan sensors.

GIR is not compatible with all old flow tubes. Glass tube and float FGTF3ASS for gases and liquids are not suitable for use with the GIR. A new flow tube should be purchased with the GIR alarm.
