Platinum Resistance Thermometers (PRTs)
PT 100 sensors (also denoted as RTD) are more accurate and stable than thermocouples and can be used over a lower temperature range. RM&C manufactured sensors can be used over the range -196ºC to 550ºC. RM&C have the capability to manufacture most designs of PRTs and can offer either fabricated or mineral insulated assemblies.
PRT Element Types
RM&C use either thin film or wire-wound elements. Thin film elements are suitable for temperatures up to 450ºC whereas wire-wound bulbs can be utilised at temperatures above this range. RM&C offer PT100 elements to Class A, Class B, 1/3 DIN, 1/5 DIN and 1/10 DIN. PT1000 and Cu90 elements are also available.
PRT elements are supplied as sensors housed in a 316 Stainless Steel protection sheath (other options are available upon request) with standard diameters from 3 to 8mm. Sensors can be terminated in flying leads, cables, connectors or connection heads. Sensors are available as 2, 3 or 4 wire configuration simplex or duplex.
Fabricated Pockets and Drilled Thermowells
Sensors can also be housed in either a fabricated pocket or a thermowell drilled from solid bar.
Standard fabricated pockets are available in a large number of diameters from 9.5 to 27mm. Pockets are available with threaded & flanged process connections (either fixed or adjustable).
Drilled from solid bar, thermowells are available in most designs and steel types. Drilled thermowells usually have threaded or welded flange connections.
